This picture just makes me want to get back on the bike and just… ride. For days. Bring some food and some water and just crank through the gears. Two white strips of paint and the steady whine of the tires meeting asphalt.

"Jesus life gave eloquent witness to a life lived as if God now reigned and no one else had power. As though there were no consequences to fear. If we ask more particularly how it was that the presence and ministry of Jesus mediated redemption to those He met and influenced, the Gospels tell us that He overcame the blindness, deafness, and hardness of heart in people, that he encouraged them out of paralysis, loved them out of their panic and confusion, released them from crippling physical and psychological burdens, and brought them back to life."

Good Morning, Sunshine. A cup of coffee, eggs and rolled oats. Jack Johnson and blogs, the paper and people moving in for school. Hello, Fall Semester!

We used to hold a small group here.

Now that the sun has fallen
And the moon finds life.

"[Traditional healthcare] is too bogged down in profiting off sickness, government regulations, bureaucracy, pilot projects, and expensive mandates to produce anything significant. The most significant innovation [in healthcare] in the past two decades has been a cultural health consciousness that’s just getting started and it’s coming from regular consumer companies realizing there’s opportunity in brands that enable a healthier, happier life."

Omg.

Kelsey is reading my blog. This is so exciting.

Today a man approached me on the way to dinner at the school cafeteria. He was a very good conversationalist, asking about my interests in school, sport, religion, and other activities. It was easy to talk to him. Then he popped a question: would I like to read scripture with him over dinner? I felt something like this coming as I chatted with him, but I felt comfortable and open enough to go ahead and grab a taco and sit. We read the parable of the lost son, with a message very similar to that of the lost sheep. Now, the meaning of the scripture is always a good one- that we should be compassionate towards others and also recognize other’s good qualities before their faults. But what most impressed me was not that he would sit and share the scripture, but that he didn’t want anything more from me- just to share the word and get my take on it. Not pushy, a little uncomfortable at first, but I was glad that I took the time to sit with this man and discuss what would be best described as an uplifting worldview regarding relationships with those both close and far from us. And I would do it again. Being open to others may be uncomfortable at times, but I find it always pays off in some way or another.

This is what I want:

I really want it to rain. I want it to just absolutely pour down for a day. One long, cold day of dark and gloomy clouds, wicked winds and a biting cold that makes you want to go outside and get completely drenched. But just for a day. The kind of storm that makes you want to come back in later and take a hot shower that burns and makes your skin all tingly, and then drink hot chocolate on the couch while watching the movies you used to when you were a kid. That’s what I want. But just for a day.
